Asia is known for having the craziest, coolest snacks in the game. We love checking out different countries’ most popular snacks and candies and seeing what they’re all about. Keep an eye out because we might just include some in our subscription boxes.
Check ’em out:
Colorful Shower Pocky (Limited Edition) – Japan
Launched this past summer, these classic Pocky sticks are dipped in a lemon-cream frosting. They’re then encrusted with rainbow colored candies that crackle when you eat them. ‘Nuff said.
Every Burger – Japan
Burger shaped cookies. A chocolate “burger” topped with some white chocolate “cheese” placed in a cookie “bun”. No grill needed.
Sweet Redbean Jelly Bar – Korea
A soft jelly paste that is an acquired taste to some. It’s sweet and has a smooth fudge-like texture to it. You’ll have to trust us on this one, this bar is good. But you have to put in a little extra work to appreciate this taste because it is most likely outside of your general native cultural palate.
Haw Flakes – China
Haw flakes were featured in our August Singapore box (due to the large population of Chinese). They are a traditional sweet made from the fruit of Chinese Hawthorn. Hawthorn berries are used as a medicinal plant to treat a large number of ailments like cholesterol, digestion, heart problems, insomnia and so much more! (disclaimer: we aren’t providing medical advice, just fun facts).
